LARRY MASON BACK ON TRACK!

Buttonwillow, CA – Larry Mason enjoyed two days of testing a couple of exciting and fun-to-drive race cars at the end of June. Thanks to Fast Lane Racing School, Mason (along with three other drivers) spent two days in a Radical sports racer and a Tatuus F4 car. Both race cars featured paddle shift systems on the steering wheel and the F4 car was even turbocharged.

“That was the first time I have driven a paddle shift race car and it was really fun and easy,” said an enthusiastic Mason. Each system was slightly different but Mason had no trouble adapting quickly to the differences and enjoyed the latest racing technology. “It was almost like driving a go-kart as you use your right foot for the gas and the left foot for the brake. On the F4 car you pull in both paddles to grab neutral,” explained Mason.

Mason quickly got down to competitive lap times which validated all the time he’s spent in lockdown in his home gym and on his racing simulator. He also wore his Polar Vantage M heart rate monitor and saw a peak of 159 bpm during one of his short sessions on track!

“It’s been a long time out of a race car and I’m grateful for Mark at Fast Lane to invite me to the test. Matt, Rick and Case were also very helpful in sharing information and keeping a positive vibe throughout the test,” said Mason.

Mason is looking forward to a full race weekend as soon as possible and any other testing opportunities that arise. Check back often for the latest updates.
